FunSNM provides input for new work items of CEN/TC 264/WG 42
The National Metrology Institute of the Netherlands, Van Swinden Laboratory (VSL) participated in a committee meeting of CEN/TC 264/WG 42 Ambient air - Air quality sensors in September 2024.
The meeting was dedicated to defining future work items for this committee, after the successful completion of two work items on validation of individual sensors for either gaseous pollutants or PM. Sensor networks are clearly a hot topic in the air quality community, as many of the ideas presented at the meeting were related to sensor networks in one way or another.
For example, topics such as the calibration of sensor networks and QA/QC of sensor systems were discussed. These are all topics where the output of the FunSNM project can have a significant contribution.
As such, VSL gave input on the importance of the different topics based on the first project results of the FunSNM project. In addition, the FunSNM project was promoted during the social parts of the workshop.
By attending these types of events, we ensure that the work we do in the FunSNM project addresses the needs of the broader scientific community, as we keep up with the latest developments. Additionally, we make sure that the tools developed in FunSNM become known to these communities, so the project can generate the intended impact. Thus, in short, it was a very successful event.
