SOCIO-BEE: Enhancing air quality networks for citizen science
Clustering approaches: A joint webinar was held by the projects COMPAIR, FunSNM and SOCIOBEE. Each project gave a presentation, which was followed by a Q&A and discussion session.
Citizen science (CS) engages the public in scientific research, fostering collaboration to expand scientific understanding. However, ensuring that data collected through CS is reliable enough for publication in peer-reviewed journals and impactful in policy decisions remains a challenge, often due to concerns around data accuracy and standardisation. For instance, mobile field sensors in CS enable detailed air quality monitoring at a higher spatial resolution but demand advanced data analysis techniques.
This webinar presents three concise talks highlighting key insights and recommendations from prominent EU Horizon projects—COMPAIR, FUNsnm, and SOCIO-BEE—aimed at enhancing the reliability of citizen science air quality sensor networks.
